Works
I have a stronge interest in book design and for a college project I redesigned the Mills & Boon novel covers.
Cover design draws us towards a book; a redesign can attract a new audience and reshape a genre. Mills and Boon have a reputation for ‘cheesy’ romantic novels, and thus presented a powerful challenge requiring a bold rethink. Their covers have not changed dramatically since they began one hundred and sixty years ago, and invariably consist of a man and a woman in a passionate embrace. Time for something new.
This was part of a college project. The brief was Grids and Structure of the City. I chose the Gherkin as it is a fascinating structure. I love the reflection it makes on other buildings and reflections in the building itself.
I took all the photos and wanted to create an abstracted vision of the building.
The brief was restrictive minimum size A4. I went slightly larger and used B4 as I wanted to make a bigger impact for the images.I also embossed the cover as I also wanted a texural element to it as well.
This is an early college project. The brief was Line circle and square part of the visual grammar project. I wanted to isolate certain shapes with in an image an create a whole new image of just the shapes isolated. I like the comparason of the original photo and the new image.
As part of a college projct on Type Hierarchy we had to design a series of posters and ivites to an event. We were restricted to what could do. They had to be black and white with the Helvetica typeface.
Here is a collection of Landscape photographs.
I am fasinated by the city as much as I am beaches or country side. I especially like photographing the city and making it look empty. The city I have photographed are London, Auckland and Welligton NZ.
